Socius are creating the largest mixed-use development in Brighton UK for 25 years. The scheme will regenerate an area in much need of homes, offices and public space. We were commissioned to create the Edward Street Quarter brand identity: to reflect the vision of the development and to appeal to the area’s vibrant communities.

Our starting point was to establish a brand narrative for the development. We helped our client define their purpose, vision and values, which enabled us to identify how the property scheme might be differentiated. This was encapsulated in the scheme's aspirational positioning line.

The visual identity uses a modern colour palette, inspired by the materials used in the development. The logo has four strands – a subtle nod to the word quarter – it has been designed to animate building in movement, as a key part of the brand identity.

We led all aspects of the branding and design process, from identity design to marketing and communication design. We were also pivotal to the naming of the development and buildings, which included polling opinion from local residents.

Local photographer Kevin Meredith was commissioned to capture the essence of Brighton. We directed several photoshoots to illustrate life in the city and to document the build process.

They clearly understood our brief and helped this evolve as the project developed. They created a memorable brand that reflected our vision and values. They consistently deliver high quality designs with great attention to detail.

Potential realised
We worked in partnership with Edward Street Quarter over a four year period, from pre-planning stage onwards. The development has received huge amounts of interest and all units are expected to be sold or let by completion date.
